In a job market that is disproportionately saturated with men, a career in the electrical field is perfect for women looking to earn fair and equal wages.

In many workplaces, women are paid less than their male counterparts, but not in the electrical trade. Apprentices earn the same wage, male or female, it does not matter. The stigma of women in the electrical trades is rapidly fading as more women are working in the industry than ever before.

Additionally, women are moving up in the electrical field and taking on leadership positions at an increasing rate.

A career in the electrical industry allows women to earn while they learn. This model of career training gives women the opportunity to earn a paycheck while they learn the skills of the trade from experienced journeymen, both on-the-job and in the classroom.

The benefits that women can earn as an apprentice and continue to earn as a journeyman electrician include; a livable wage, family healthcare and retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and pension. All of these benefits combined make the electrical industry an attractive and lifelong career.

There is no better time than now for women to get involved in the electrical trade. Because of collective bargaining agreements, women can confidently go to work knowing that they are making equal pay and equal benefits as their male counterparts.
