While people are being pushed towards colleges and universities, apprentices are earning a living without accumulating massive amounts of student debt.

The Western Pennsylvania Electrical JATC provides a place for apprentices to learn course material as they advance through the apprenticeship program with electrical training centers located in Pittsburgh and Clearfield.

Apprentices go to work during the day, earning a livable wage and benefits, and attend night classes a few times a week. This earn while you learn model has been proven to work for decades. This method keeps apprentices motivated and leaving work every day with a sense of worth.

The instructors at the Western Pennsylvania Electrical JATC are experienced journeymen who have spent years in the field and are qualified to educate the next generation of Local 5 electrical workers.

Additionally, the Western Pennsylvania Electrical JATC is partnered with the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC). Apprentices can earn credit towards an associate’s degree through the partnership the Western Pennsylvania JATC has with the college. While apprentices are learning their trade, they also complete coursework through CCAC.
